But now, since someone offered to organize the entire thing, I was more interested. I visited the site again, read more, and said yes, I was going to join them.
There were 3 of us doing the "hard core" cleanse. "Hard core" because there is actually a one-day cleanse. But not us. We went ahead to order the 3-day cleanse. The 3-day cleanse meant that we would be on a liquid diet the ENTIRE THREE DAYS. Which didn't really faze me because a friend said he didn't feel hungry at all.
We did it over a Friday to Sunday weekend, in anticipation of the need to be close to a bed (if one is weak) or the bathroom (you know...).
I read that I had to prepare for the fast by having mostly fruits and veggies and soup the day before. Best to nix the solids, it was suggested -- the only solid food I had that day was chicken. My Guama's (maternal grandmother) steamed chicken which I could *never* say no to.
The next day began late for me, as I was too afraid to start early and be hungry by late evening. I tweeted the entire of day one. I cheated on day 2 (the birthday party we went to had fish balls and corn dogs, how could I say no??? But paid for it in the bathroom a long time during the evening of day 2), and finished on day 3. I eased back to solid food two days after the actual cleanse, as, again, suggested by the site. In fact, I was waiting for the *huge* flushing out of "toxins" as some people I know have experienced, but there was none. I have been wondering why (hence, the title).
Here are my learnings:
- I can live on juice alone. It is true, I was never hungry. At all.
- I am perennially on a "see" food diet. Really. When I see food, I want to eat it. I realized that sometimes, I eat even when I'm not hungry. I eat because --- well, I enjoy eating!
- (I realized this a few weeks after the cleanse) I've learned to eat less than what I regularly do, I opt for food that seems more nutritious (but not all the time ha), and I have learned to say no when I'm not hungry.
Would I do it again? Yeah, most probably. The taste of the juices (is this correct grammar, to pluralize a mass noun?) were okay enough for me. However, I should try and consider juicing myself. Ang mahal! Hahahaha!
How about you, would you be up for a Juju Cleanse challenge???
